Introducing C-TNBS
The Center for Translational Neuro- and Behavioral Sciences brings together the highly successful scientific and clinical activities of a large number of preclinical institutes and clinics, which deal with neuroscientific and behavioral issues at the level of patient care as well as in the areas of basic, preclinical and clinical research. Our working groups cooperate nationally and internationally and are involved in several collaborative projects of the German Research Foundation (DFG) and EU.
Our particular strength is the combination of basic and preclinical with clinical research in the fields of psychiatric and neurological diseases. This networking offers outstanding opportunities and perspectives to implement newly developed transdisciplinary therapy concepts in the treatment of patients and enables, at the same time, reverse-translation due to the close interaction between basic and clinical scientists.
Due to the bi-directional interaction between psychological processes, behavior and organic diseases, our priority initiative is cross-cutting and relevant to all other disciplines. A striking example is our study on the quality of life of patients in the fields of cardiovascular, oncology and transplantation. Without considering the intense interaction among somatic processes, brain functions and behavior, progress towards personalized therapy is hardly feasible.
